The lakes we like to guide during the open water season (May to November) are Basswood and Snowbank Lakes. Basswood Lake is located entirely in the BWCAW and a US Forest Service Permit is required for access. Snowbank Lake is partially in the BWCAW and that portion also requires a permit for access. To protect the wilderness ecosystem and allow each person to experience the quiet beauty and solitude of the BWCAW a visitor distribution system is used. The permit system limits over crowding.
Basswood and Snowbank Lakes are diverse fishing lakes containing walleye, bass, northern pike, lake trout and pan fish. Your trip includes: 16-foot Lund fishing boats, 25 hp motors, gas, bait, and fish cleaning/packaging. Permits, portage fees and shore lunch are extra. For Basswood trips we strongly recommend reservations by January 15th to allow us to secure permits. The US Forest Service permit
lottery is on January 15th walk-in permits are sometimes available.
